Description: Adhara (also named Epsilon Canis Majoris) is located in the Canis Major Constellation. With a magnitude of 1.51 is the second brightest star of its constellation, after Sirius, as well as the 22nd brightest star of the entire celestial vault. Its position makes it easier to be observed from the Southern Hemisphere. Adhara is 405 light-years far from the Solar System and it Is a blue super-giant or blueish-white giant and belongs to the spectral classification B2. Due to the rarefaction of the neutral hydrogen in the direction of the star, Adhara is the brightest known extreme ultraviolet source in the night sky.
