“Gallia Aquitania” was a Roman province, bordering today’s Poitou-Charentes regions to the north, Limousin to the north-east and Midi-Pyrenees to the east, as well as Spain (Aragon, Navarra and the Basque Country) to the south. The region became a Roman province in 50 BC, at the end of the conquest operated by Gaius Julius Caesar.
